flamingo

gifted Sugarlips dress  |  H&M cardigan  |  thrifted penny loafers

When I saw this dress on Sugarlips, I knew I had to have it. Short, printed, with an open back and the color vaguely reminds me of a flamingo. I made this dress a statement piece and realized that even though the color isn't exactly fall-appropriate, throwing on a chunky cardigan and a pair of vintage loafers makes it just about right. Have you checked out Sugarlips though? Their new arrivals are just calling my name.

happiness ensues

If you've seen me walking around these past few weeks, chances are, I'm wearing these sneaker wedges. I've been looking for sneakers for a while, ever since I fell in love with the Isabel Marant Beketts on practically everyone and did a post on sneakers here. The cartoonish charm of the Isabel Marants are what really drew me in, and although there were tons of suede shoes to choose from - Ash and ASOS - none had quite the character as the Marants. I wasn't about to spend $700 on a pair of shoes, although was seriously contemplating it, so when I saw these Hilights, I didn't hesitate to surrender my credit card to the cashier and purchase the most obnoxious, awesome pair of shoes currently in my possession.

so fresh so clean

Insight dress (on sale)  |  Line & Dot pinstriped blazer  |  ASOS flatforms  |  gifted Pinky Thumb sideways cross necklace

It's practically fall, but people, 80 degree weather calls for bare legs. I paired a light floral printed dress with a pinstriped blazer for a subtle mixed printed look that just seems kind of off-season. So over the arm party and very much into minimal accessories, this sideways cross necklace is sure to be an everyday wear, much like the black hair tie that's always on my wrist.

a few of my favorite things

The first of many posts about my current obsessions, right now it's all about my miniprints from Social Print Studio and my sheer embellished chiffon maxi from ASOS that lives a double life as a gorgeous curtain. These miniprints are going to be such a stocking stuffer, you get 48 of these Instagram prints for a mere $12. It doesn't get any better than that. Especially when someone just hit over 1,000 photos on Instagram, I have a ton of photos to choose from. A huge thanks to Heidi over at SPS for introducing me. She has a blog too, and an Instagram that I can't stop obsessing over.

last night

The best package arrived the other day at my office, sitting right on my desk was a sweet, sweet package and note from my California counterpart, Stephanie of Honey N' Silk, who just recently founded Last Night. Last Night dishes out gorgeous dresses, each piece hand-chosen by Stephanie for her customers, at unreal prices.

Gemma

Just so happens that Steph is hosting a giveaway, so better get going! Summer's almost gone but you can bet that I'll be squeezing a lot of wear out of my Dahlia dress until the leaves start to change color.
Stay tuned for my next post: a few of my favorite things, featuring Social Print Studio!

multipurpose

A huge fan of this two piece, detachable maxi dress and these flatforms that go with everything. Is it any wonder that they're both from ASOS? Summer, don't end. I have so many plans for this dress. So many plans. Always schemin'.

the traveling sweater

borrowed Quiksilver Sea Crew Sweater  |  thrifted white overalls dress  |  ASOS flatforms

Let's take a minute and talk about Quiksilver Women's Traveling Sweater Campaign, it was a real thrill to have the opportunity to style the same sweater as Kimberly of Eat Sleep Wear and Christine of My Style Pill before her. The whole concept of the campaign is for this Sea Crew Sweater to go to different places and encounter bloggers with immensely unique styles. I wore an adorable thrifted overalls dress over the sweater with minimal accessories to give the classic striped sweater a feminine feel.

Follow its journey online or on Instagram and Twitter with the #seacrewsweater and #travelingsweater to see where this baby is ending up next! Hint: she's one swanky chick!

3.1 phillip lim : spring 2013

There's none quite like Phillip Lim. I don't know how I could ever love a collection so much, I held my breath when going through the entire collection on Vogue, not only because the internet was moving at a glacially slow pace, but because of the distinguishing oversized coats, micro-floral prints, and plaid in chiffon and beads.

It'd be an understatement to say that I'd give up my entire current wardrobe for a few of these pieces, among some favorites are the floral oversized cargo vest (reminiscent of my only convertible vest) , the sheer plaid shirt, the floral baseball bomber and the embellished plaid dress.

dynamic trio

Action photography by Landon of FashionGoggled

thrifted denim shirt/jacket  |  H&M grey tank  |  Isabel Lu leather shorts (similar)  |  gifted Style Queen necklace  |  thrifted Kenneth Cole leather backpack  |  thrifted DIY spiked sneakers

My comfortable outfits seem to always consist of either leather, grey or denim. Anyway you put it, those three are my secret weapon. Woke up late? No problem, throw on any combination of these three and you're good to go. The leather backpack just makes the day immensely more practical. This whole outfit - though might be Alexander-Wang-esque (as so aptly noted by Landon) - is leaning a little bit more towards that nostalgic high school laziness where shorts and a tank aren't frowned upon. My dynamic trio (duo, trio, same difference) is always reliable and almost always a sartorial success. Almost.

thakoon : spring 2013

Photos from Vogue

Thakoon gets me with minimal style, gorgeous embroidery, chiffon paneling and floral details for a distinctly tailored, yet feminine look that I'd probably rock with my favorite sleeveless moto vest. Swoon. Instant swoon.

casual cashmere and sequins

Photography by fellow fashion blogger in crime Landon

DRESS THE POPULATION sequin dress  |  Subtle Luxury wrap sweater  |  Zara heels

I don't know how Landon does it sometimes, he manages to capture the perfect amount of light in each photo. Each shot has a sort of lack luster color - which is actually a good thing in this shoot - that captures the DRESS THE POPULATION sequin dress in a way that looks like it's a beautiful scaly part of me. Sequins weren't really my thing, but paired with my favorite grey Subtle Luxury sweater - the copper sequins seem so much more subdued, which conjures up crazy thoughts in my head. Sequins everyday, anyone?

pumped up kicks

It's been a long time since I've bought a pair of sneakers. Currently, I own one pair and they're mostly collecting dust on my floor, waiting to be used. But I stumbled across a few pairs at Aldo that I'm really loving – I wouldn't even dare call them sneakers, they're shoes with an athletic edge that would make any outfit instantly casual and chic. I chose a few shoes with a neutral tone to them, I'm just dreaming up of ways to wear them once I get my hands on a pair from one of Aldo's 1,600 retail shoe stores. My favorite pair you ask? The Sen, with the uniquely high top and suede detailing.
